This is a brief introduction to our club, Ormskirk Cross Hall F.C. The club was formed at Cross Hall Sports Centre in Ormskirk and affiliated to Lancashire F.A. in 1996. Originally, the club provided an exit route for children attending the sports centre's mini-soccer coaching sessions for boys and girls 6-9 years old and an under 9's team was formed.
Today, with a membership in excess of 100 players, the club provides competitive football for U7's through to U13's including 5 players from the U13's who were with us as 7 year olds!
The club's training base is at Ormskirk School, Wigan Rd and the teams play their home games at various venues including Scarisbrick Village Hall (U9, U10's) and Abbey Lane, Burscough (U11, U12, U13's) due to lack of field space at Ormskirk School.
The club has a catchment area including Ormskirk, Aughton, Burscough, Skelmersdale, Maghull, Southport and Preston. The club has an equal opportunities programme and providing a girl's football team is on our agenda.
Local businesses who sponsor kit for the teams include: D.A.Carter Builders, Sanderton Properties, AWP Fabrications, Adec Installations, Chris Higham Motors, Skelmersdale & Ormskirk Colleges and Coerver Coaching Soccer Schools. We are grateful to all our sponsors, without their financial support we would not be able to provide all of our teams with the kit to play in. Qualified F.A. coaches provided by Coerver Coaching West Lancs train all teams. The club enforces a code of conduct for all players, supporters and staff and we are hoping to obtain F.A. Charter standard within the next year.
Although we are a relatively new club, we have achieved some degree of success during the first 7 years of existence. The club has an impressive display of trophies at the training base, last season 15 trophies were added including a club of the year award from the Ormskirk Advertiser group. The club have also taken teams to Holland to take part in an international tournament, and returned with first and second place awards.
We hope that the club will continue to blossom and within a few years be able to offer open age football for the children currently playing junior football with us.
