A new FA campaign's being launched to tackle bad language and dissent.
Aimed at grassroots footballers, 'Use Your Head' includes an animated video, voiced by Shameless actor, Dean Lennox Kelly, to help management, players and fans see the impact that foul language can have on funding and attendance figures.
It's all the work of ad agency Raw which, says the FA, has helped it deal with the difficult and controversial issue of bad language in an imaginative way, according to FA 'Respect' manager Dermot Collins.
“One of the crucial elements to both briefs was the creation of a style that would appeal to all football volunteers – young and old, male and female. Designing for such a wide audience can sometimes lead to a diluted style but we’ve managed to do some really nice creative, using retro football design as inspiration for both campaigns,” explained Tom Heaton, Raw’s head designer.
“The animated videos work really well as a hook and the downloadable resources give clubs the opportunity to create their own customisable campaigns.”

FA needs to start with players and managers at the top first, youngsters will follow their heroes who unfortunately do not set a good example on foul language or dissent
