With the Government planning to begin a consultation on changing the definition of marriage to introduce same-sex marriage, a Christian charity is backing new moves to retain the current definition of the institution.

Christian Concern says traditional marriage has benefited societies across the world for thousands of years, and has given its backing to a new broad-based group, the Coalition for Marriage, that's campaigning to retain its current definition.

It will be taking several initiatives, but as a first step has launched a petition stating: "I support the legal definition of marriage which is the voluntary union for life of one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others. I oppose any attempt to redefine it."

The public's being urged to sign the petition - they can add their names online at c4m.org.uk, and petition sheets can also be downloaded from the website.

Spokesman Colin Hart said: "The British public have a great affection for marriage, and people from all sorts of backgrounds will be keen that the current definition of marriage stays the same."

Signatories must be aged 16 or over and a UK resident. You can email the Coalition at: admin@c4m.org.uk or phone 0207 403 7879.

Petition sheets are to be sent to C4M, 8 Marshalsea Road, London SE1 1HL

Marriage is a God given institution and is between one man and one woman. The government in attempting to redfine marriage is setting itself against God-not very wise, remember what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah.
The good news is there is forgiveness with God that He may be feared-as a nation we need to repent and return to The Bible.
