Aughton based Silver Birch Lodge has become the first nursing home in West Lancashire to receive both the Investors in People ‘Gold’ and the Health and Wellbeing awards.

Investors in People (IIP) is the national standard for best practice in people management, with a focus on management practice, learning and personal development.

The recently launched ‘Health and Wellbeing Good Practise’ award focuses on creating a healthy, happy workforce that is more engaged, motivated and productive.

Joan Parr, Manager of the Holt Green home said: “To accomplish IIP Gold is a fantastic achievement in itself, yet this double recognition demonstrates our commitment to not only invest in our workforce, but also in individual’s own personal wellbeing.

“Our people are the backbone of our company, and this is a fitting recognition of the commitment, care and energy they bring to providing outstanding services to our residents."

Dr Fred Ayes, Investors in People Assessor said: "Silver Birch Lodge is a remarkable company and exemplar. The culture underpinning the Investors in People Framework is very firmly embedded and people clearly view the company as an excellent place to work."

Also part of Holt Green Residential Homes Ltd,Silver Birch Lodge’s sister company – Holt Green Training – was also included in this award recognition. The company originated to provide in-house training to Silver Birch Lodge and has been delivering training opportunities in the Health and Social Care sector throughout the UK since 2009. The recognition is another step toward HGT’s aim to become West Lancashire’s centre of excellence, fulfilling public and private sector’s training and development requirements.

Silver Birch Lodge opened in 1987 providing residential nursing accommodation for up to 30 elderly people. In 2002 ownership was transferred to Jim and Jean Parr and has remained their family business since. Holt Green Training is a national provider of training and vocational qualifications and awards. The company - which began in 2009 – was originally established to meet the regulatory training requirements of its sister company - Silver Birch Lodge.
