Who'll remember Richard Dawkins in 150 years time?

That was the provocative question posed by Pastor Billy McCurrie at a ladies outreach meal hosted by Aughton Park Baptist Church.

For the first time, men of the church planned the event, cooked and served the food - and washed up afterwards.

Over 60 ladies attended the evening, enjoying a delicious three course meal before Pastor Ian Higham from Belvidere Church, Liverpool spoke for a few minutes on how Christiantity is under relentless attack in the UK.

"It's nothing new though," he explained as he told of the formation of the National Secular Society by one Charles Bradlaugh.

Bradlaugh was so convinced he could disprove Christianity he challenged the church to a debate which was accepted by a Christian minister - with one proviso.

He was willing to take part - and would produce 100 people whose life had been changed for the better by Christianity. He asked Bradlaugh to do the same, and produce 100 atheists whose life had been changed for the better by their beliefs.

Bardlaugh never made the debate...

In closing, Pastor McCurrie posed the same question.

"God willing, the gospel will still be preached in 150 years time.

"I wonder who'll remember Richard Dawkins then?"
