Well, the launch of the 400 celebrations took place on Friday February 24th in the Forum at Ormskirk School. It was well attended by a large group of supporters, ranging from the joint leader of WLBC, Gill Rowe, the head teachers of local schools, councillors, members of the Rotary Club and of course, Foundation Governors, to name but a few.
The night began with a welcome speech from the headteacher of Ormskirk School, John Doyle. It was followed by a brief outline of the work of the Foundation Trust by the Chairman. However the highlight of the evening was a talk by Brian Wallington, a past Head of Biology at the old grammar school. He kept the audience highly entertained by his reminiscences of his long teaching career at the school.
This was folowed by a short film narrated by pupils from Ormskirk school relating the Foundation's journey from 1612 to 2012.
The evening was drawn to a close by the cutting of a magnificent cake, provided by the 400 Celebrations sponsor, Rob Halsall Design Ltd.
All in all an excellent evening and a wonderful start to the year of celebrations for the 400th anniversary of the Foundation Governing Body
